Last week I realized I was weighing a couple pounds more than I would like so I joined crossfit gym to beat my ass back into shape. Welcome to CrossFit: Forging Elite Fitness There is a link to the basic exercise philosophy if anyone is interested.
So for the past week I've been in complete agony and ecstasy at the same time because I've had loads of more energy and I guess that's made me emotionally happier even if I'm physically beat up.
While I haven't been playing as much poker I have noticed that I'm winning more. While this could just be variance I do believe that getting back into shape physically has led to some success on the tables.
I also went to my vast poker bookshelf and reread some of Paul Hoppe's book http://www.giantbuddhapoker.com/about/ because I remembered that he is a martial arts blackbelt and approaches the game with that mindset. Overall it was a good read if you're interested. I know people read Sun Tzu's The Art of War at Harvard in business classes or so I've been told.
Anyways I dunno how many of you guys are into physical fitness as well as poker or have got into it after too many 10 hour sessions sitting on your butt, but I've been in love with this workout/poker thing for the last week. I played football in HS and this Crossfit thing is the closest I've felt to being back in the weight room with my team mates.
Maybe we can set some workout/hands played a week goals and see if we can meet them together.
GL guys.
