Dining Review - Flavours Buffet at Fortune Valley Hotel and Casino
Hello. Recently I decided to try the (relatively) new Flavours Buffet at Fortune Valley in Central City. It’s located on the far end on the main floor. Here’s some comments regarding my experience.
My visit was enjoyable, but not memorable. The food was good, and pretty fresh – which is always a struggle at buffets. The service was prompt and friendly.
The buffet had an ok variety of offerings, with “Mexican” being the predominant menu direction. The chili relenos were crisp and hot and the chicken fajita mix was quite tasty.
There was a “barbequed tuna” entrée that while unique, dried out quickly on the buffet line and left something to be desired. My wife had TWO servings of the “pot roast” and being a self-proclaimed pot roast expert she gave it very high marks. There were the very standard fried chicken, mashed potatoes, green salad, and carved-to-order roast beef items. A reasonable dessert bar is included. Overall, a pretty basic buffet. None of the “gourmet” items you’ll find at the larger, higher-priced Black Hawk buffets. No crab legs, a popular item with many buffet visitors.
The restaurant had a nice layout, with a variety of table sizes separated with enough space to move around. The décor was artsy and subdued. It is a smoke-free eatery.
The Flavours Buffet is a nice, quick full-meal option for players in Central City. In fact, it’s the only buffet outside of Black Hawk. At $11.99 weeknights ($13.99 weekends) for dinner, it’s a reasonable value. The food is good – just don’t expect to be overly impressed.
