Legislators say they want to hear from Colorado voters and Pueblo officials before supporting a proposal to build a Casino in pueblo.
Last weekend, the Cheyenne-Arapahoe tribes of Oklahoma announced their hopes of building a one-hundred million dollar hotel and casino along the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk. They still need voter approval the support of federal lawmakers to settle land issues. Colorado voters have rejected expanding gambling in the sate seven times since 1990.
"My only sense of the community in general is that there is a lot of division and contention about whether or not this is a good idea," says U.S. Senator Ken Salazar.
A meeting about the proposed casino is scheduled for Monday night at the Pueblo city council chambers. |
