The Colorado Limited Gaming Control Commission also announced a $50,000 fine against Golden Gates Casino and a $20,000 fine against Golden Gulch Casino. All three Black Hawk gaming outlets are owned by Las Vegas-based Golden Gaming Inc.
According to the commission, the casinos failed to prepare statistical reports, complete investigations and maintain surveillance tapes, in addition to other accounting irregularities.
"The division didn't have a level of comfort in whether the casinos were paying their taxes properly or whether there was theft occurring," commission spokesman Don Burmania said.
"Those reports are important in detecting theft and ensuring the casinos are paying their taxes."
The infractions took place from the time the casinos changed ownership in January 2005 through June 2005.
"They got off on the wrong foot," Burmania said.
While the $200,000 fine is the biggest imposed on a Colorado casino, the state gaming division levied a bigger financial penalty against a manufacturer several years ago." |
