The major remodel project underway at the Tollgate (on Main Street in Central City) is progressing slowly - with no opening date available yet.

The $40.0 million development includes a 60,000 square foot casino and back of house with 625 slot machines, six table games, 35 hotel rooms, retail, food and beverage amenities and a 500-space on-site covered parking garage. Construction began in the first quarter of 2005 and is expected to take approximately 14 months.

News on the street in CC is that the Tollgate LLC cannot open its casino, hotel, or restaurant until their parking garage is done.

The garage certainly appears to be the priority these days, adding credence to this rumor.

Artists renderings of the finished Tollgate complex looked very impressive - they used to be posted in the front windows but are now gone - so let's hope things move along on schedule. I'd love to have a nice indoor garage to park in come November, wouldn't you?

Thanksgiving 2005

Well, while there's not much happening with the casino, the parking garage is moving right along - and looking like its going to be exactly what Central City needs. An indoor parking facility located right as you make the turn down to Black Hawk.

Projected opening date - Summer 2006.
