I may be moving to Boulder next year and am looking for info on casinos close to Boulder. So far the closest I can find is still and hour and a half away. Any help would be great.
Thank you for any help you can give.

Hey NY - welcome to Colorado Gambling Forum...

To answer your question, Black Hawk and Central City are the closest casino towns to Boulder. I've never traveled from Boulder to Black Hawk, but there's no way it will take an hour and a half. I'd say more like 45 minutes, depending on exactly where you are in Boulder.

In fact - I just did a "Mapquest" and it estimated one hour.

Both Black Hawk and Central City (they are right next to each other) are old mining towns in the mountains that are authorized by the voters to have casino gambling. The other casinos in Colorado are outside of Colorado Springs (Cripple Creek) and on the other side of the state (South-West corner). That's it (for now).

Hi again...

Re: Employment. Well, openings come and go but in general there always seems to be jobs open somewhere. There's a lot of movement of employees between casinos as well. I don't think you'd have a problem getting a job up there.

Your best bet is to check the individual casino's web sites or the Denver Post web site and search it for casino jobs.

Black Hawk has something like 15 casinos - big and small. Some national corporations are there (like Ameristar, Isle of Capri, Riviera, etc.) so if you have had experience with one of them it will help.

In order to work most jobs in a casino you need a gaming license. It costs $100 and can be optained in a couple of hours by going to the main Gaming Commission office in Denver.

Hope this all works out for you. Keep us posted.
