Hello - many gamblers, from regulars to one-timers, are watching the Colorado State Legislature these days for news regarding the proposed "smoking ban" and how it might effect casinos in Colorado.
Well guess what. I just heard from a contact of mine on capitol hill. The bill has been sent to the House with one additional exemption added - CASINOS !!!!
It's not over yet, but it looks like you smokers will have (at least) another year to enjoy the status quo in BH, CCity, and CCreek.

stupid morons! I cheered when I saw that legislature.
I like chocolate but I dont HAVE to have it. If you can't go a few hours without something (other then air of course) then your addicted and that should tell you something.
I'm sorry I very rarely rant like this but I absolutily despise smokeing

I can't believe Colorado is considering banning smoking everywhere except people's homes, their cars and outside.
I am a courteous smoker, if someone is sitting next to me in a casino, I move the cigarette to my other hand, trying not to upset the person next to me if they happen to be a non-smoker.
Funny how the non-smokers get so verbal when someone sits next to them and lights up! You don't see people acting that way in Las Vegas! |

Hi Yoda - from what I hear, the legislature wants to pass a bill - of some sort - before the citizens get something on the ballot (which would likely be an all-out ban) this November.
These bans are all the rage nowadays. Montana just did one (also excempting casinos) and there's still a lot of static over it. Lots of free spirits up there - and nobody wants the government telling them what they can and cannot do.
Its not a done-deal in Colorado yet. I'm hearing the Senate will try and exempt a lot more places, in which case some die-hards won't vote for it and perhaps nothing will get passed.
Stay tuned.

Scotland are about to impose a ban on smoking in all enclosed public areas, and the ban is going down well (bar the smokers, obviously)
Passive smoking is a killer, and I applaud anyone with the guts to ban it in public enclosed spaces. Outside, not a problem, unless I'm stood next to them I don't care. When I'm inside though, you've got very little choice if half the place is puffing away. |

This certainly is a touchy subject.
Today's (2/27) status is much different than earlier posts.
Casinos are NO LONGER exempted !!! Of course, that's only as of today. The full Senate still needs to debate and vote.
Stay tuned.

Well, another day - another change to the Bill in the Senate.
Casinos are back on the exempted list (no ban will be imposed) as of today (Feb. 28, 2006).
Folks, I just can't see them going against the casino lobby on this one. Not this year, anyway. There's one sure way to get the owner/operators to accept a snoking ban - trade it for UNLIMITED STAKES !!!! But that won't happen as long as Republican Governor Bill is around (not much longer - hang in there). He'll veto anything like that.
Stay tuned - nothing passed yet.

March 16 - well, that's it.
Smoking will NOT be banned in casinos in Colorado.
The House will most likely pass the bill tomorrow (it already passed this version once) - and that will be it.
