I was playing a fixed limit tournament and it was down to me and one other guy. The flop comes, and I have a A High Flush Draw. I'm badly shortstacked, and I go all in expecting to get the Flush on the turn or river. I end up getting three of a kind threes on the river but lose to three of a kind kings. Was I stupid to raise all in on a hand that I normally wouldn't, since I was very shortstacked to begin with?

it was a good move you were short stacked you had to do somethin. Ive gone in with horrible hands short stacked and sometimes you come out lucky. When your short stached you have to gamble.

Heads up w/ an ace is about as good as you can hope for short stacked. Maybe a better play would have been to go all in before the flop. It takes away every chance for him to out play you once the flop has hit and more than likely you will be a slight favorite in the hand holding the ace. I think you played the had well, maybe though moving in pre-flop might have made him fold. You never no as poker is often a game of what ifs when you are walking away from the table.

Definitely, you see pairs winning heads up frequently, so going all-in with 3 of a kind was good play. Over a period of time you will be rewarded for such play, but this time you were a little unlucky.

If I was short stacked, that is the sort of hand I would be looking at going all in on. Anything over a pair and I'd be there. It's important not to sit too long, waiting for that golden hand that may never come - you're paying blinds still, and that alone can kill you.
Don't worry about it, don't do anything different next time is my advice. |
