Cool I will be in central city between the 24th and 28th of Feb. I play Texas Hold em poker almost 24/7 and would love to find a casino that is my style..I love a challenge i.e.:NL hold em but if I must I will play limit...I am a smoker and love the casino atmosphere. Can anyone help me?? I have never been there and I know absolutely nothing about the area whatsoever. Thanks and good luck to all players!

Hi there lr - I can help a little...

First - Central City and Black Hawk are about a mile apart up in the mountains west of Denver. Central City has only 2 Hold-Em options. Black Hawk now has five. You should plan on going to both towns.

Colorado is a "limited stakes" state - so the only NL games you'll find will be in a tournament setting. There are tournaments all the time - you're best bet will be to ask some fellow players when you sit down somewhere.

The main place to play in Central City is Fortune Valley - on the road that connects the two towns. Doc Holliday - on Main Street in CC - has only one table but is a pretty cool old-time casino that's worth a look.

Black Hawk has Hold'Em poker in the following casinos:

Mountain High - 12 tables
The Lodge - 18 tables
The Gilpin - 16 tables - separate room
Colorado Central Station - 10 tables
Golden Gates - 12 tables - separate room

Opinions vary on where the "best" place to play is - I suggest you try them all.

One last thing - you won't be playing 24/7. Colorado casinos can only be open 8:00AM - 2:00 AM.

Thanks for the information, Gonzo - I'm not in the area anytime soon though it's always nice to have a little knowledge on the local casino environments, typical tables and so forth.
