Central City Gambling Casinos
Central City, Colorado is situated conveniently one mile (or less)
above Black Hawk, Colorado, so if you are visiting one of these towns, you should definetly visit the other. Central City casinos really started it off with a bang when the first poker tables and slot machines rolled into town. It had more casinos than Black Hawk did, too.

However time wore on and Black Hawk casinos soon expanded into their full town limits and with more and larger megalithic casinos moving into Blackhawk many gamblers stopped traveling the extra mile to Central City casinos and stopped in Black Hawk to gamble instead. This really hurt Central City casinos and many closed.
A new Central City emerged from this. A very quaint old west, not quite
abandonded gambling hideaway. If you want a get-away from the fast pace and crowds of Black Hawk with friendly faces and open spots at the blackjack table, Central City is just for you. Central City comes complete with historic Victorian buildings, old time candy store, many museums and historic monuments. To top it off, Fortune Valley Hotel & Casino is here for those who just can't stand being away from the
"monster" casinos. Fortune Valley Hotel & Casino started off as Harveys Wagon Wheel and was the largest hotel and casino in Colorado.
Now in addition to this large casino you will find Century Hotel and Casino.
Today,
Central City is changing quickly. The biggest change is the new Central
City Parkway which opened in November of 2004. The new
road off of I-70 at the Hidden Valley exit delivers you to Central
City in 12 minutes. With this new four lane parkway you can
get to Central City quicker than Black Hawk. Find lodging in Central

This has naturally brought in a huge influx of activity and attention
to Central City including the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes who lay claim
to a large portion of land in Colorado. The group claims it is willing
to give up the land in exchange for permission to build a new casino in
Central City.
The weather in Central City is about the same as Blackhawk however it can vary. This means from mild to extreme in the winter!!
